What Is Neurosurgery?

Most people think neurosurgeons operate only on the brain. But there’s so much more - from carpal tunnel syndrome to neck pain to back injury.

People are most surprised to learn that neurosurgeons are specialists in the spine and spinal column. A neurological surgeon may provide either surgical or nonsurgical care, depending on the nature of the injury or illness.

Both Dr. Kendrick and Dr. Kast are board-certified neurosurgeons.

What Is Physiatry?

Physiatrists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and pain syndromes, as well as the rehabilitation of patients with severe injuries. It is also called physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Pirofsky is a board-certified physiatrist and allows us to offer an even more comprehensive level of nonsurgical care. With his assessment and treatment, he can provide post-op management of patient disabilities as well as provide a holistic approach to attempt to avoid surgery and even minimize the use of medications in the treatment plan.
